I know that most people say that the holiday season means Christmas, New Year's and Hanukah. But for me, the holiday season starts November 1st- Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is a holiday about showing how grateful you are for the people that are in your life and lessons that you learned throughout the year. No gifts, no fanfares, no hype. Just family, friends and great food.
This year for me has been filled with so many changes. Last year, Black Friday was really a Black Friday for me. I nearly died. After a gallbladder attack that was so severe the ER staff thought I was having a heart attack, I found out that I had pancreatitis that nearly killed me. I spent a week in PICU (a level lower than ICU), I realized that I needed to take control of my life. Ryan and I went to hell and back and we came out the other side better than ever. Getting fired from k12 was another big blessing. Working for over 12 hours a day grading papers is not teaching. Now I have time for my family and time to follow my passion- cooking and baking. Cooking and baking are not work for me- I love it so much.
I have so many incredible blessings in my life. First, my husband Ryan. He is my biggest cheerleader- he lets me be myself and keeps me in check. He also takes care of me and really just wants me to be happy. This is such a cliche, which my favorite English teacher always said to avoid, but my children are the greatest accomplishment in my life. They teach me everyday how to be a better person. My family always has my back- my parents and siblings- and I will always have theirs. My friends, there are no greater people in the world. Each of them has something that I think is absolutely incredible and I cherish each of them.
So I hope that despite the Christmas decorations and toy sales, remember Thanksgiving.
Cookie Shop will be up on Etsy tomorrow as will pics of the whirlwind of cookies I have been working on :)
